Sandra's work delves into intersections between female body, sexuality, landscape, and Indigineity. She is especially concerned with the bodies and voices of women as liberties and limitations. As a queer, Métis woman this is of personal and critical interest; her artistic research is an exploration into identity, historical representations and interpretations, and the complexities of identity politics. Mannila's practice includes painting, photography, performance, and installation.

Sandra  received her BFA - Visual Arts (2013) from the University of Ottawa.

She lives and works in Toronto where she is a member of the studio collective, The White House Studio Project, and the feminist performance collective No. Is a complete sentence.
